2024 – MotoGP™ – Rd 18 – Sprint – Thailand – 26th October

Race Summary:

  • Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) dominating the Tissot Sprint at the PT Grand Prix of Thailand to secure his second Sprint win of the season, by a margin of 1.357 seconds
  • The Championship contenders Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) and Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) filled the other podium places, with Martin holding off Bagnaia to extend his Championship lead to 22 points
  • Francesco Bagnaia made a great start, briefly taking the lead as they headed into Turn 1. Jorge Martin was quick to attack, forcing both himself and Bagnaia wide enough to let Bastianini and Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) slip through
  • Bastianini took full advantage of the situation, charging into the lead and pulling away from the pack. leaving the title contenders to battle for second
  • After dropping to fifth, Jorge Martin quickly fought his way back into the mix
  • Martin then passed Bagnaia, but ran slightly wide on the exit of Turn 7 and received a track limits warning
  • Marc Marquez had a strong ride to finish in fourth, though he was unable to keep up with the pace of the top three in the closing laps; his brother Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) followed in fifth
  • Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing) finished in sixth, ahead of Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team), who took seventh just a tenth of a second ahead of his teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio. Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) finished ninth, losing ground after a strong early run
  • Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) made a strong charge through the field to finish tenth, after losing many places in the first two laps. Next was Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), who fought hard to finish eleventh. Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR) finished twelfth, narrowly holding off Joan Mir (Repsol Honda Team).
  • Pedros Acosta crashed on the fourth lap; he was able to restart but then entered the pits to retire three laps from the end
