Race Summary:

  • Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) and Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) battled for the win at the Qatar Airways Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix
  • After a difficult start, Marquez made an incredible recovery, chasing down Martin and overtaking him in the final laps to clinch his third win of the season.
  • Marquez faced early drama as his rear wheel spun up off the line due to a tear-off trapped under the rear tire. This allowed Jorge Martin to take the lead early on with a stellar start, ahead of Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team)
  • After the issues at the start, Marquez quickly made his way through the field, overtaking Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team), Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), and Franco Morbidelli(Prima Pramac Racing) to join the battle for the podium
  • With just four laps remaining, Marquez launched a move at Turn 4, overtaking Martin. But Martin quickly retaliated at Turn 1. The two riders swapped positions multiple times, then Marquez made a decisive move
  • After the lead duo broke away, Bagnaia was unable to keep up but maintained his position in third, securing valuable points and keeping his Championship hopes alive
  • Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) finished in 15th, earning a point after serving a Long Lap penalty for his collision with Joan Mir (Repsol Honda Team) in Japan
  • Joan Mir (Repsol Honda Team) crashed out of the race
  • Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) had to serve a Long Lap penalty for a clash with Viñales during the Tissot Sprint
  • Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) was declared unfit to race after shoulder trauma sustained on Saturday
