2024 – MotoGP™ – Rd 3 – Race – USA – Austin – 14th April
Race Summary:
- Maverick Vinales became only the fifth rider in history to win premier-class Grand Prix races on three different brands of bike: Suzuki, Yamaha, and Aprilia
- This victory was Vinales’ 10th MotoGP win and his first since Qatar 2021 on a Yamaha
- Pedro Acosta finished second after leading for much of the race: his best-ever MotoGP result
- Marc Marquez crashed out when battling with Jorge Martin
- Enea Bastianini secured 3rd place, edging out championship leader Jorge Martin
- Pecco Bagnaia was initially a contender but slipped to finish 5th
- Early laps were frantic, with Acosta taking the holeshot while Vinales was relegated to 11th after contact at Turn 1 with Bagnaia
- Vinales passed Acosta with 8 laps remaining to take the lead
- The race took place on a resurfaced track, with new asphalt at many of the corners

- Vinales becomes first to win for three different manufacturers in the MotoGP era
- At the age of 19 years 325 days, rookie Pedro Acosta finished P2, scoring his best MotoGP™️ result on his third race in the class, and becoming the youngest rider to take back-to-back premier-class podiums, taking the record from Marc Marquez, in Austin 2013 (20 years and 63 days old)
- Aprilia’s win for the fourth time in the premier-class win, adding to the three wins scored by Aleix Espargaro and the first since Espargaro in Catalunya in 2023.
- Viñales ended a sequence of 11 successive GP wins for Ducati
